6 Photos: Before and After

Before:

After:

I darkened this photo and unsaturated it a lot, mainly because it's being paired with the one next. To highlight the differences between the two, I created the contrast in brightness and colour: how from afar it's nothing special (dark and dreary) but up close it's magnificent (colourful).

This photo was heavily saturated. I wanted to bring in the Reds in the photo out a lot more which showed off the moss and mould surrounding the wall next to the drain pipe. The Red and Yellow in this photo are directly contrasted to the previous photo which had lots of dark Green and Black. This brightness really showcases what I wanted to introduce people to, the magic of unexplored and unnoticed nature.

There isn't a tremendous amount of change in this photo as the photo I took beforehand was already meeting my dark and dreary standards. I removed and desaturated some of the Yellow, Green, and Red to focus on how prominent they are in the next photo.

This photo was brightened a huge amount and I think it helps the photo so much. The random nature of a shoe being there with a rotting Banana peel in the foreground shows off the Rule of Threes with one direct area where the photo attracts you to look at. I brightened the Redness of the branches in the plant as it contrasts nicely to the Blue shoe, also highlighting the Maroon/Brown Banana peel.

I didn't have the opportunity to change the saturation of many colours here as I was strictly set with only having Green in my photo. I darkened the photo a small bit but my main focus was removing the very White areas on the grass and Green box. I spent a long time to make the areas look natural as the white areas dragged the viewer to look at them. This photo was supposed to be bland for the slightly contrasting next shot.

This shot was brightened and I had to decide to brighten the twigs in the centre of the foreground. I brought in more Yellow and brightened the light Green's while darkening the already dark Greens. The result is one of my favourite photos as not only is the detail on show but the vibrance of the photo looks wonderful.
