10 Main Photography Photos
I've chosen 5 different subjects for my 10 photos, with one photo from a distance and another up close.
Scene One: Drain Pipe
Far Away
The Framing in this image has the end of a drainpipe right in the centre. As for the rule of thirds, this photo has yellow walls with green grass on the left and right sides with the afore mentioned drainpipe separating them. The foreground/background balance is having the greener grass in the foreground with the yellower walls in the background. This perspective is at a slight angle from the wall and shows the majority of the wall's detail.
This photo had medium aperture and shutter speeds for a more average look, I wanted this to be as plain as possible with my next photo being the one that looks good and I had my camera set to medium exposure and control for the same reasons. As i'm an amateur with the camera, had set the exposure and focus to automatic. I assumed this would create a more natural feeling to the photographs I took with the added help that the camera would do the simple work for me. This had a relatively far depth of field as the focus of my image is on the drain pipe.
I used the standard lens type to further help me get the naturalistic look I wanted. There wasn't an huge amount of natural light here as the sun was right above me behind some light clouds but it managed to stay bright through my photoshoot. I made sure to not have any reflected light in my photos as I didn't want it to take away from the main focus of my photograph. I had no artificial lighting sources here.
Up Close
This image is framed so the mouldy wall is in the centre of the image. Regarding the rule of thirds, On the left you can see the drain pipe from the previous photo. On the right we can see the immaculate detail in the wall and cement. In the centre there's the damp mould made from the leaking water pipe. In the foreground there are a large amount of orange pebbles the background merges with the middleground to show the wall that veers into the distance. This perspective has been moved closer with more of an angle looking down.
I wanted my photos to match my theme of being natural so I used medium shutter speeds and aperture. I used the automatic exposure and focus for help with the quality of my photos. There is a low depth of field here as the focus is close to the camera.
The sunlight continued to be helpful here as there isn't a big difference in this and the previous photo with no overbearing shadows visible.
Scene Two: Possessions, Left Behind
Far Away:
The framing in this image has been chosen so that the burgundy bush in right in the centre. On the left there's a patch of grass and more pathway to the right. There is an educational facility in the background with tarmac and pathway in the foreground. The bush is in the middleground.
I used medium aperture and shutter speeds to help with my natural genre. This is quite a far depth of field as the main focus of the photo is fairly far away. I manually focused on the bush and red wall behind it here.
The natural light had dimmed a bit here and ended up matching the photo in that it's darker. I used default lenses and lighting and made sure to have no reflections in my photo.
Up Close:
This image is framed so that the banana peel hooked onto the red bush is the main focus. The bush's twigs are sprawling out in contrast to the previous photograph where the bush looks contained and the shoe is now more visible with it's contrasting colour right near the centre of the frame. The rule of thirds is purposely messy here, to help show the carnage that this bush exudes in my framing.
This is a very close depth of field in the grand scheme of things but in regards to this picture alone, it's got a medium focal length. I manually focused on the banana remains here to match the previous photo.
The lighting in this image is still dark and I think it helps create the beauty of the image.
Scene Three: Tabled 'n Twig
Far Away
This image is framed in a quite unique way when talking about my photos here as it's exclusively only got light in the middle third. To the left and the right are shadows. In the background there's a wall of a building with a walkway in the foreground, and a bench in the middleground.
I changed the aperture and shutter speed to catch as little light as possible to focus on the centre of the frame. the depth of field is fairly far here with a focus length that focuses on the floor just before the bench.
This is a photo taken of the outside of a building from the inside of a building and so that's why the lighting is so unique. The only direct light here was from the sun outside the hallway.
Up Close:
This image is framed nicely with the table taking up the majority of the space. The left and right thirds of the images are similar in that there's water droplets covering the table all over them. the same is for the centre third except the twig in in the middle. There is a nice foreground/background balance here with a close perspective of the table.
I customised my shutter speeds and aperture to allow lots of light to be captured in this photograph to oppose the previous image. There is a middle depth of field as the focus is quite close.
The sun helped a lot by shining lots of natural light to help make a beautiful difference between the bright brown and the black shadows.
Scene Four: Nature's Veins
Far Away
Here is a photo taken from far away of the vines on a wall. The wall of thirds here shows a different building on the left third, the bushes and vines on the wall in the centre, and the right side of the bright building in the right frame. All of these focus points are in the background.
I used the default shutter seeds and aperture settings here to keep the natural look I had in previous photos. I couldn't focus on all buildings at once here so I decided to focus on the grey ground and green grass closer to the camera.
I had no artificial lighting here as the sun came out and decided to shine bright, to my benefit.

Up Close
This image is framed to the vine that's crawling up the walls here is the centre of the image. The left third of the image shows the bush next to the vine, the trees, and grass in the distance. The main focus in the photo is close to the camera and thus is in the middleground with small plants in the foreground along the bottom of the frame.
I used default shutter speeds and aperture to gather a regular/natural amount of sunlight. I used manual focus and exposure to get the right amount of light and get the right focus on the wall.
There's a close depth of field here too.
I had no lighting equipment with me so the only lighting source I had was just the sun, and there's no reflecting light.

Scene Five: Holly
Far Away
This image is framed so that the plant pot is right in the centre of the frame in the foreground. The left and right third feature the green grass and the slightly darker bushes in the background. This image is static and from a perspective of looking downwards.
I had a default shutter speed and aperture here to keep the natural lighting I've had throughout these photos. The depth of field is small as the main focus of this picture is in the foreground.
Again, I had no lighting sources but the daylight so I worked with the direct light to keep it from being too dark or too bright.

Up Close
The framing in this image is very close. The Holly branches across a twig and stays in focus right in the middle third of the photo. On the left and right third there are some weeds/small plants in the background.
I had a fairly dark but natural light here and that's because of my choice for middling shutter speeds and aperture. there is a very short focal length with an automatic exposure featuring here too.
I was photographing this in my own shadow and that's one of the reasons why the photo is darker than the rest.
